About Nano Insights

Most organisations bought the AI before they wrote the rules.

We started Nano Insights because we kept seeing the same thing from the inside. Capable teams, real budgets, working tools, and no one able to answer a simple question: who approved this, and on what evidence?

That question does not stay hypothetical. It arrives as an audit, an insurer, a client security review, or a customer complaint. By then the answer has to already exist.

So we build it first. The governance, then the systems that enforce it.

What we believe

Three things we will not compromise on.

Security is the floor

Not a workstream that runs alongside the others. If access, encryption and monitoring are not right, nothing built on top of them can be trusted, however good it looks.

The order matters

Secure the systems, then trust the data, then hold the AI accountable. Most failures we see come from skipping a step, not from choosing the wrong tool.

Trusted advisor, not a vendor

We are not the fastest AI deployer and we do not try to be. We are the people who can show their working when someone asks how a decision was made.

Who we are

Two founders. No junior handover.

Nano Insights is deliberately small. The people you meet in the first conversation are the people who do the work. Melbourne based, working with organisations across Australia, on site and remotely.

Between us, twenty years each across government, finance and software, delivering digital and data services at national scale, and the governance and assurance work that has to sit underneath them. We have spoken on data and AI leadership at industry events including CDAO Melbourne.

We built this from the inside. Everything we advise on is something we have had to make work under real audit, real budget and real deadlines.

Our expertise

What we know how to do.

Grouped by the pillar each one holds up. The order is deliberate.

Secured

Cybersecurity

Access control and least privilege. Encryption at rest and in transit. Threat monitoring that alerts rather than logs. Securing the connections between your systems and the services they talk to.

Assessed against ISO 27001, SOC 2 and the ASD Essential Eight.

Trusted

Data

Ownership and stewardship rules. Quality checks that surface errors early. Lineage, so any number in any report can be traced to its source. Consolidating scattered systems into something people trust.

Aligned to the Privacy Act and the Australian Privacy Principles.

Accountable

Decision Intelligence

Model inventory and approval gates. Bias testing before release, drift monitoring after. Explainability, so a decision can be defended. Human oversight where the stakes justify it.

Aligned to ISO 42001 for AI management systems.

How we work

What we won't do.

Most consultancies tell you what they offer. It is more useful to know what we have ruled out, because that is what shapes the advice you get.

✕

We do not resell platforms

We hold no vendor partnerships and take no commissions. When we recommend a tool, nobody pays us for that recommendation.

✕

We do not sell work you do not need

Most organisations already own more capability than they use. If the honest answer is to fix what you have, that is the answer you get.

✕

We do not hand you to a junior team

The people in the first meeting do the work. That is a limit on how much we take on, and we would rather have that limit.

✕

We do not write governance you will never use

A policy that sits in a folder changes nothing. Controls belong in the platform, where they apply whether anyone remembers them or not.

Where to start

Start with the question you can't currently answer.

Take the Trust Score and find out where you stand, or book a 30 minute readiness call and talk it through. Either way you leave with something useful, whether or not you engage us.
